A gubernatorial aspirant who lost in the just concluded general elections has joined hands with other losers to file a petition at the High Court challenging the validity of the final results tally that saw Nyamira governor John Nyagarama win.
Dr Evans Ongaga who vied on a CCM ticket said after a wide consultation he has agreed to join the rest of the team which includes Jubilee loser Wlater Nyambati and Mongare Bwo Kong’o to challenge the victory of John Nyagarama of ODM party, arguing that the elections process was not free and fair.
“The results declared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission show that we lost to Nyagarama of ODM party. Yet this was a sham election,” said Dr Evans while having a press conference in a Nyamira hotel on Monday.
He wants the court to undertake proper audit of form 34A which, he says, would bring out results as desired by voters in Nyamira.
By the close of tally on Friday night August 11th, IEBC County Returning Officer, David Kiprono Bett announced Nyagarama as the winner after garnering while Nyambati came second.
“We have evidence that there were extra ballot papers in circulation and the security of the kits was not watertight this gave my competitor ripe ground to doctor the results in his favour,” he said
The agents representing both leaders declined to sign the results at the county tallying center when the results were announced.
However Nyagarama recently called upon the losers to drop the petition and join hands towards building Nyamira.
