The race for Kisumu governorship post has entered another step, with only three days remaining to the polls day, on Tuesday.

This is after one of the candidates, stepped down, t support Senator Prof Anyang' Nyong'o, who seeks to unseat incumbnet Jack Ranguma, who is vying as an independent candidate.

Peter Charles Omollo, of the Amani National Congress (ANC) bowed out of the race during a rally at Dr Owuor Grounds. and declared support for Nyong’o.

He stepped down during the rally attended by four National Super Alliance (Nasa) principals, presidential candidate Raila Odinga (ODM), his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya).

Omollo indicated he would want to help one Nasa candidate win the Kisumu governor seat, rather than have two candiates, from the same alliance, defending for the seat.

"There's time for co-operation, and competition in politics. So this is the time for co-operation," he said during an address to hundreds of supporters.

Nyong'o, Raila and Mudavadi welcomed the move, saying everyone in Nasa was one, hence the decision to suport each other,

"The people of Kisumu have reaffirmed their commitment to ensure that Raila Odinga and Nasa take over the leadership of this country in order to implement the reform agenda that Kenya lacks today. We are on the road to Canaan. We cannot afford to gamble with our future," affirmed Nyong'o.

He further urged residents to turn out in large numbers on the day of election to cast their votes for Nasa, and him as well.

"We need a county government that will be accountable to 'wananchi' when Nasa government devolves 40% of to the counties," he said, Thursday.
