Kisumu county business people have reportedly incurred losses following a boarder row between the Governor Anyang' Nyong'o led administration and Nandi county led by Stephen Sang.
According to some of the traders, the row has created fear among the traders which has impacted their businesses negatively.
Speaking to The Nation, Grace Atieno a fish monger at Chemelil market said: "The two counties stand to lose heavily in terms of revenue generation due to insecurity fears unless the government moves fast and resolves the boundary dispute."
Governor Sang and a section of leaders from Nandi county noted that they intend to use colonial boundaries to resolve the long standing historical land injustices.
The Nandi Governor urged the residents living in the disputed land to be calm and assured them of adequate security, adding that the stakeholders involved will follow legal process in resolving the boundary dispute.
“We are ready to move to the African and International Court of Justice to pursue this case and seek compensation,” said Sang.
“I want to make it clear that no community will be displaced should the National Land Commission recommend that part of the land in Nyanza be returned to Nandi County,” he added.
Meanwhile, a section of leaders from Kisumu County dismissed the move by Governor Sang noting that such remarks would open up old wounds on historical land injustices.
