Love turned tragic in Naivasha where a police officer attached to Kongoni police station shot his lover six times killing her on the spot.
The two had reportedly engaged in an argument on Thursday night before gunshots were heard.
An officer said the woman had been heard begging the suspect to let her go.
He, however, pulled the trigger and shot her in the stomach and thighs several times.
He then moved out of the house holding his rifle. Colleagues who rushed to the scene disarmed him but found the victim already dead.
Naivasha sub-county assistant commissioner Joseph Opondo confirmed the incident.
The body has been collected and taken to Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary and the suspect will definitely be charged with murder when investigations are through,” he said.
The suspect was identified as a junior officer called Benjamin Lelemen and the deceased 31-year-old Beatrice Nyokabi.
The two had cohabited in the station's house for two years.
