Subukia police have launched investigations into two incidents of suspected suicide in the area.
Subukia OCPD Alex Ng’ang’a on Thursday confirmed that police are trying to unravel the circumstances under which two young lovers took away their lives.
“It is true we are investigating the two deaths. One was a bodaboda rider and the lover was a form three student,” said Ng'ang'a.
The two lovers, a 23-year-old bodaboda rider, and a school girl committed suicide on Wednesday and Thursday respectively after the girl’s parents called for an end to their intimate affair.
“The girl is said to have been pregnant and the parents were not happy with her dating a bodaboda rider,” Joan Wanjiru said.
The man reportedly hanged himself on Wednesday night and upon the girl receiving the chilling news on Thursday morning, she went straight to their house and hanged herself too. The two left behind ‘love letters’ detailing their blissful romance and why each could not live without the other.
However, Subukia OCPD said the families of the two preferred more details of the notes not disclosed.
