Latest data shows a drop in the total number of new vehicles sold in Kenya during the election period with August recording the lowest number of sales.
According to the new motor vehicles sales review report by the Isuzu East Africa (IEA), the two election months August and October recorded 723 units and 769 unit sales respectively.
The two months were characterised by high political temperatures and protests that led to the boycott of October 26 repeat presidential elections by opposition after the Supreme Court annulled the August 8 poll.
IEA has also noted that the years sales dropped by by 22.21 per cent to close the sales at 8,972 vehicles as compared to 11,535 vehicles sold last year.
The data also reveals March and April recorded the highest motor vehicle sales at 1,122 and 1,003 units respectively.
IEA has however managed to lead other firms with 3,100 units sold translating to 34.6 per cent market share control. Toyota East Africa followed closely with 2,114 units being sold translating to 23.6 per cent.
Simba Colt shares also stood at 14.8 per cent as it closed at 1,324 units sold while DT Dobie settled for a 4.8 per cent market share with 433 units sold to date.
