Of the many hotels in Eldoret town, Silverline located along Oginga Odinga street is arguably the strategically placed hotel if activities around the hotel witnessed during the August 8 general elections is anything to go by.

The hotel's management could have been smiling all the way to the bank during the campaign period and the fame that came with the events is still enabling them to make a kill in the business.

Most politicians in Uasin Gishu county made it a habit of addressing their supporters outside the hotel during the campaigns.

Governor Jackson Mandago, then seeking a second term in office made several addresses near the hotel after which he would order a meal.

The governor accompanied by aspirants who various seats would as well offer meals to all the locals who could manage to get a seat in the small hotel that can accommodate at most 300 people.

During the campaigns for the repeat Presidential poll, the local leaders managed to convince President Uhuru Kenyatta to address a major political rally outside the hotel, away from the traditional paradise hotel junction along the Uganda road.

Since then, the Silverline hotel has become an epicenter of the county's political forums where residents gather either outside or in the hotel to discuss any burning issues affecting the County.

Ugali nyama, nyama mix, and chai mandazi being the most favorite meals consumed by locals.

Perhaps residents prefer Silverline because their meals are cheap. For instance, ugali nyama costs Sh150, nyama mix is Sh120 shillings and Chai mandazi going for Sh80s.

The hotel also gets visits by twilight girls who conduct their business along the lodges near the hotel.
