Youth leader of Masinga Central Ward Lawrence Mwanza has called upon residents to register as voters so as to elect their leader in the coming general elections.
Mwanza on Wednesday termed voter registration turnout in many parts of Yatta Sub-County as low since the exercise began on Monday.
"I remind all people that are over 18 years to take identity Cards and register as voters because as research shows that many people did not vote in the previous elections due to lack of voters card," said Mwanza.
"Voters card is our voice in choosing good leadership and to represent ourselves. As one we will be able to represent ourselves and vote in one accord," he added.
This comes a few days after the former Kithimani Councillor Daniel Kita called upon people to register as voters so as to remove the corrupt Machakos leadership.
"Up to now we have recognised the leaders who we elected and have let us down and registering as voters will give us strength to pull our feathers supporting them and put in power development minded people," said Kita.
