Kilifi County registered low of voter turnout during the repeat presidential fresh elections.

Polling stations across the county were opened at 6.00am as residents woke up ready to elect the next president.

The number of voters who appeared to take part in the exercise was very low compared to the August general election where Jubilee carried the day.

Kibaoni primary school and Kilifi primary school in Kilifi were among the polling stations that registered the lowest turnout as reported by Baraka FM.

Kilifi Primary school polling Centre presiding officer Ronny Mramba said that after only registering one voter the system failed to force him to seek assistance from IEBCICT officers.

“We are concern because we are not moving as at now as the KIEMS failed to operate some minutes to 7.00am after we had served one voter,” Mramba said.

On his part, Karisa Maitha polling Centre’s Presiding Officer Dodwell Menza said that there is also low voter turnout, adding that there was no case of voters missing in register and he is hoping for the peaceful exercise.

“We have not recorded any irregularity, though there is low voter turnout. The exercise is peaceful and we will be glad if it will be the same until we conclude,” Menza said.
