[Photo|Daily Nation]High Court advocate, Murigi Kamende, wants the Law Society of Kenya president Isaac Okero to be suspended.Kamende has accused Okero of abuse of office, misuse of public funds and lack of capacity to lead.In an affidavit, the advocate wants an audit to be carried out so that the LSK boss can answer to charges which will be levelled against him."There needs to an audit of the expenditure on travel by the Law Society of Kenya president and the report unveiled for discussion in the general meeting held on March 2018," Kamende said.According to Kamende, Okero authorised an illegal payment for a flight ticket, accommodation and registration of a female advocate to accompany him during a conference in Cape Town, South Africa.He has also been accused of not advising the government, courts and the public of the law in the ongoing constitutional and legal crisis as well as sponsoring and backing a suit by Malindi branch of the LSK which ousted the jurisdiction of Magistrates Courts in relation to land matters."Under the president's leadership the council has not taken any meaningful decision in the interest either the Membership of the Society or the general public," he said."The president supported the suit that ousted the jurisdiction and as a result litigants, advocates and members of the public suffered for over two years," Kamende added.
