The Law Society of Kenya President Isaac Okero has called on police and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to produce lawyer Miguna Miguna alive and well.
On his Twitter handle on Monday, Okero reminded the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and the DCI of the untimely death of human rights lawyer Willy Kimani allegedly in hands of the police.
In June 2016, Kimani, his client and a taxi driver mysteriously went missing and they were later found murdered with a police officer allegedly being the perpetrator of the deaths.
"The last time our member vanished into unlawful police custody we donned purple ribbons as a POSTHUMOUS tribute to him. @JBoinnet and @DCI_Kenya you must immediately return to us LSK member Miguna Miguna alive and well!" tweeted Okero.
The arrest of Miguna has raised concerns from the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition which has alleged that the vocal lawyer is unwell and his health deteriorating while in police custody.
On Friday, Miguna was arrested for participating in the controversial swearing-in of Raila Odinga but has not been released even after the High Court ordered for the same.
Yesterday, the IG and DCI failed to produce Miguna in Court as instructed by Judge Luka Kimaru raising more questions concerning the state of health and whereabouts of the lawyer.
