Law Society of Kenya (LSK) had been given opportunity to select young lawyers to attend the International Bars Association (IBA) Annual Conference in Rome.
The conference will be held between 7th October and 12th October, 2018.
The opportunity was given as a reward following representations by former LSK president to the leadership of Bar Issues Commission of the International Bar Association during the last IBA Annual Conference in Sydney, Australia.
It will be a scholarship program to enable the selected number of young lawyers to attend the conference.
LSK CEO Mercy Wambua said that the society will shortlist six young lawyers of which three will be appointed for the scheduled conference.
Those hoping to qualify must: have 35 years old or less, have 3 years practice experience and disclose if they are related to an officer of the IBA among other qualifications as highlighted by LSK CEO.
The participants selected for the program will receive free registration for the IBA Conference in Rome, a contribution towards a return economy flight to Rome by reimbursement after the conference and a stipend of 50 EUR a day.
“The participants will be expected to submit a short report on which sessions they attended and what they enjoyed most about the conference,” said Mercy in a memo.
