Political analysts have advised the Luhya community not to walk away from the National Super Alliance (NASA) ahead of the August general polls.Analysts Prof Frank Matanga and Martin Oloo both argued that the alliance will defend the needs of the Luhya community if ODM leader Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka ascend to power in August. The pundits however said Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula will have to pitch tents in different parts of the nation to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto do not retain power after August 8.“Mudavadi, as the NASA founder, already played a key role by endorsing the alliance lineup and he has a lot more to do to steady the coalition, because he seems composed,” Matanga argued. On his part, Oloo argues that it will be a grave mistake for leaders of the Luhya community to mobilize its members and walk away from the alliance before the election date. This comes after supporters of Mudavadi expressed dissatisfaction after the ANC party leader was not named the coalition's flag bearer.Oloo, however, maintained that the future of the Mlembe nation is bright in NASA. “Luhyas are better in a NASA government, where they are shareholders, than in Jubilee, where the formation might be in place until 2032 and they continue begging. How do you build a house and run away? To where?” he asked.
