Vice chairman Burudi Nabwera and a secretariat member Peter Ludaava, said their support is only for the Cord coalition.

"Mudavadi is free to move all over the country hunting for votes but he should understand that we do not support him. We are a forum that is made up of all Western region tribes and Cord is the uniting factor," Nabwera was quoted by the Star.

Nabwera added that the elders do not support individuals but are inclined to the idea of all inclusion.

"If Wetang'ula is given a chance to be a presidential candidate in Cord, then we will support him but if he moves out to go it alone, let him forget about our support," Nabwera added.

Ludaava on his part noted that the work of Luhya elders is to give the community the right direction and promised that they will not be tilted with an individual's move.

"The Elders Forum supports Cord and we have stood with that. The coalition offers a good vision for this country which has been messed up with Jubilee. Let's all remain in CORD or we perish for lack of direction," noted Ludaava.

The elders called on Wetang'ula to remain in Cord and fight it out in the nominations with co-principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.

"Cord is a movement that has all Kenyans interests at heart. Let's not pretend that has the Luhya community can go out alone and succeed. We need other tribes for us to succeed," the Star quoted Ludaava.
