Former Medical Services minister Amukowa Anangwe has said that Luhya land is destined to be a Jubilee region despite “denial” by some ODM leaders and supporters.
He added that the Luhya community feels its support for Cord leader Raila Odinga has been “wasted” after he lost the presidency in 2007 and 2013, landing them in opposition.
According to the Star, Anangwe said the impending exit from ODM of vice chairman Paul Otuoma and secretary general Ababu Namwamba signals Raila’s declining fortunes in the region.
Otuoma and Ababu resigned from their positions last week, citing frustrations within the party.
Anangwe added that as opinion polls show, President Uhuru Kenyatta will be re-elected in 2017, “and Raila will lose again the fourth time.”.
Sirisia MP John Waluke and his Emuhaya counterpart Wilbur Otichilo have hinted at scouting for a new political home. Raila will camp in Western for two weeks to try and counter the damage disgruntled party members would cause.
