ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, has raised his voice after a section of the Sh1.2 billion Sigiri bridge in Budalangi constituency, Busia County, collapsed, Monday.
It was inspected by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, accompanied by area MP Ababu Namwamba.
The two Jubilee leaders were in the region June 15, to inspect the construction of the bridge, where they said more development projects would be introduced, during their second term in office, if they win in August polls.
However, Mudavadi, a Nasa co-principal accused the Jubilee administration of looting from Kenyans through the project,, in the name of constructing a standard bridge.
Below is Mudavadi's (Luhya community spokesperson) short statement about the collapsing of the bridge, which injured at least 25 people.
"It’s a shame for the government to use over Sh1.2b for the construction of a sub-standard Sigiri bridge in Budalangi which collapsed last night. The project, that was conceived by the Grand Coalition government was hurriedly done by the Jubilee administration at the expense of the safety of residents of Busia County. The collapse of the bridge is an indication of massive graft and shoddy projects undertaken by the Jubilee administration."
