Musalia said that the other communities have failed to follow in the footsteps of the Luhya people when it comes to voting.

"The people of Western Kenya need to be respected and even given a gold medal like David Rudisha. This is because they have been practising genuine democracy for a very long time. It is only in Western Kenya where people have been voting for leaders not affiliated to that region as opposed the other parts of the country where people vote in terms of the leaders affiliated to their areas," he said.

During the interview, ANC leader called on all Kenyans to learn from the Luhya people and endorse anyone that sells the best manifesto rather than support an individual on the basis of where he comes from.

He also downplayed any possibilities of either joining Cord or Jubilee parties but was okay if they supported him in his quest to become the 5th president of Kenya.
