The Luhya community will not support a presidential candidate from any other tribe come 2022, Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula have declared.
The two who spoke in Bungoma town after attending a church service at Christ The King Catholic Church in Bungoma on Sunday said recent political developments where Wetangula was ousted as Senate's Minority leader clearly show that the Luhya community is disrespected.
"We will not play second fiddle again, enough is enough," said Mudavadi.
"Plan are underway to form one formidable political party for the region. This will be our ticket for 2022 and we will field one of our own."
Mudavadi and Wetangula spent the better part of the weekend in Vihiga, Kakamega and Bungoma counties criticising NASA Senator's decision to kick out the Bungoma Senator from the Senate Minority Leader's seat last week on Monday, replacing him with Siaya Senator James Orengo.
The senators accused him of being disrespectful to them at the Senate.
"We have resolved that our support will go to one leader from Western. We are the second largest community and it's time we chart our own way," Wetangula said adding that he will not take back the position even offered again.
"I will not, even if offered by Raila Odinga and his ODM Party, take up the seat of minority leader. That is not what I bargained for," he added as quoted by Citizen Digital.
