Luhya political party leaders have been urged to merge all small political parties and form one party that will represent the region.
According to Likuyani member of parliament Dr. Enock Kibunguchy, this will unite the community and thus speak in one voice.
"I want call upon leaders from the 'Mulembe' nation to swallow their pride and disband all political parties and form one formidable that will serve the interests of the residents," he said in his constituency.
"As luhyas it has been hard for us to ascend to power not because that we are few but because we are divided basing on our sub-tribes but with one political party this will be a thing of the past."
Kibunguchy, however, called upon the luhya leaders to start strengthening their unity in preparation for 2022 general elections and should refrain from any division.
"Luhya community has adequate numbers to seek the leadership of this nation but it has always failed because of disunity that has been the norm since political power lies within a community’s united strength, “noted Kibunguchy.
He reiterated that for the luhya nation to clinch the presidency of this country they should speak in one voice.
“It’s a pity we luhyas have simply agreed to remain stepping stones for other tribes yet we have the capacity of and supporting one of our own. It is high time we realized the importance of uniting and speaking in one voice politically,” he said.
