Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's re-election quest has been dealt a blow following the decision by a group of members of the Luo community to ditch him for his rival Senator Hassan Omar.

Led by Mikindani MCA Duncan Onyango, the Mombasa Luo Union accused the county chief of isolating them despite overwhelmingly voting for him during the 2013 elections. However, the group was quick to allay fears that they had abandoned NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga in his quest for the country's top seat."Our stand is very simple. We do not support Joho. We cannot support Joho. We will never support Joho. We don't have any problem with Raila. Nobody can persuade us to do so," said Onyango as quoted by Tuko.co.ke.While accusing Joho who is also the ODM deputy party leader of betrayal, Onyango claimed that the county government had sacked top members of the community.Following the move by the group, Joho is now faced with a delicate balancing act as tries to balance his political scales in the wake of a looming political showdown.
