“This was unanimous and the elder will serve for only three months before elections are held to give elders the opportunity to come up with a leader of their choice,” he said.

He said it is not good for the community to have two centres of power citing the parallel office held my Willis Otondi.

Addressing the press at Ofafa Hall in Kisumu on Wednesday, Mr Olala said after the expiry of the 90 days elders will converge at Ofafa Hall to elect a new chairman.

He appealed to Mr Otondi to attend the upcoming meeting and present himself to the elders if he wants to be the next 'Ker' after the death of Riaga.

“Any elder who wishes to lead the Luo community, please come over when elections are called. Even those who are holding parallel offices, please come for the sake of peace and unity,” he said.

Mr Olala said Riaga was endorsed by the Luo community and after his demise it is important to have a new 'Ker' who will unite the community.
