Luo and Kalenjin elders are expected to meet and deliberate on the Kisumu-Nandi border row.
The elders will also discuss the possibility of convincing Deputy President William Ruto to back ODM leader Raila Odinga in the 2017 general election.
Speaking to a local daily on Tuesday at his home in Nyahera, Kisumu County, Willis Otondi the Luo Council of Elders chairperson said he hosted elders from the Kalenjin community on Monday and he expects to meet about 50 elders from both the Kalenjin and Luo communities on Thursday.
Mr Otondi added that he had also received an invitation from members of the Kalenjin Elders Council Jackson Kibor and Gideon Cheluget to travel to Eldoret for talks over a possible collaboration between the two communities in 2017.
Mr Otondi however, ruled out the possibility of ODM leader Raila Odinga endorsing another candidate for the post of president in 2017.
According to Otindi, Raila is positioned as the best candidate to challenge Jubilee in 2017.
“Mr Odinga enjoys massive support in Nyanza, Western and Coast and it would only be fair to him if he is supported as the opposition candidate against Jubilee,” said Otondi.
Otondi added that plans to meet with the Luhya and Kisii elders were underway and nominated MP Oburu Oginga has been tasked with that role.
