The Luo Nyanza region is likely to soon find itself at crossroads as the 2022 presidential contest nears.
The region has for a long time rallied behind opposition leader Raila Odinga who, however, has disappointed, repeatedly failing to clinch the post and blaming it on rigging.
As a result, the region which is obviously not enjoying its stay on the opposing side is likely to embrace any solution that can take it to government in 2022.
As a result of Odinga's newfound political romance with President Uhuru Kenyatta, the region can decide to support the government in the spirit of the handshake.
The other option would be to back Odinga for the Presidency, should he decide to vie.
However, Odinga should only be supported if he demonstrates that he will win the seat this time round, as another defeat will be a major blow to the entire region.
Lastly, the region can decide to watch from afar, and become a swing vote. This way everyone will choose for themselves who they want to be their next President.
