Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka criticised the former Senate as a malicious house with so much conflict of interest.
Lusaka highlighted the various cases of impeachment in the last house, citing that this painted a section of senators in a bad light as they apparently worked hard to send home their governors.
He said this when members of the 12th Senate retreated to Naivasha for a week-long induction training.
"Some senators who were keen to seek gubernatorial seats were full of malice and this house should not be used in the same way and should instead address the process of impeachment," he said.
He cited efforts by the governors to stop misuse of money and unplanned trips by MCAs as among the reasons used to impeach governors.
"I'm sure that this Senate will be different from the previous one and will focus on sober discussions as part of making devolution stronger," he said.
