Speaking in Webuye West constituency during the commissioning of the Poipoi Bridge on Thursday, Lusaka said Wetangula’s presidential bid is a big lie.

"Wetang’ula has been lying to people he will run for the presidency. I dare him to come and face me so I send him home very early in the morning of August 8," he said.

The governor’s sentiments come after speculations emerged that Wetangula has intentions of vying against him in the upcoming general polls.

The senator has, however, distanced himself from the claims while terming them baseless.

The governor also said Wetangula does not understand where he is heading.

"Wetang’ula is a confused person who goes to a hotel, orders food, starts eating and immediately changes his order when he sees his neighbour eating a more delicious meal," Lusaka said.

Lusaka pointed out that he has improved infrastructure and undertaken other projects in the region since he took over.

The incumbent wondered what Wetangula has to offer to the people of the region yet he did nothing when he served in different positions during the past regimes.

"Wetang’ula failed to bring change in his 15 years in office," he added.
