The Senate has been defended against accusations of being slow in passing laws.
Speaking during the Senate leadership workshop in Nakuru, Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen said that it is wrong for anyone to accuse senators of delaying passing laws. He said Kenyans need to understand how the senate works.
“Unlike the National Assembly where laws can be passed easily, in the senate every vote counts and every vote is equal,” he said
He added: "For any law to be passed in the Senate, we must have representation from across the country and that is why it takes time for the senate to pass laws,” he added.
Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka also defended the working of the Upper House saying that they have since passed four bills which are on their way to the National Assembly and hopes parliament will pass them.
