Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has hit out at Luhya politicians opposing the appointments of Wafula Chebukati and Eliud Wabukala to the IEBC and EACC.

The governor wondered why those who have been complaining about an alleged sidelining by Jubilee were still the very same ones criticising the appointments.

“This region is full of egocentric leadership that has no community interests at heart but is always politicking to remain relevant," he said. "Aren’t those complaining the ones who were crying about the community being locked out of major appointments?"

A number of politicians from the region, especially those allied to Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula, have downplayed the appointments on grounds that the government was only using them to hoodwink voters in the county.

Lusaka however said that as leaders allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Jubilee Party by extension, they have been asking for these appointments as well as infrastructure development.

“It is our role as the leadership to push for our people to get what they deserve from the government under the sun. The politics of opposing everything only sends the community into oblivion," he said in Webuye on Wednesday.
