Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula now claims that Governor Kenneth Lusaka dissolved his New Ford Kenya party for Jubilee Party to seek protection from the Sh1.09 million wheelbarrow scandal.
Wetangula who spoke at Posta Grounds at the weekend during a voter registration campaign said the county boss has failed to protect taxpayers' money, and presided over the looting of county cash.
"We all know he has run to hide in Jubilee with his fellow thieves, thinking they will protect him," he said as quoted by the Star.
The county bought 10 wheelbarrows in 2015, which were said to be non-carcinogenic worth Sh109,000 each and eight county workers have so far been charged.
Wetangula urged EACC chairman Eliud Wabukala to arrest Lusaka over the scam.
