Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka and Teso South MP Geoffrey Omuse marketed President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga peace and development agenda during a joint tour of Busia County on Sunday.
The two leaders started their tour by attending church services at Amukura Catholic church and later at Love Line Grace Centre Church in Busia town where they were joined by Busia First lady Judy Ojaamong.
Addressing worshippers at Grace Centre Church, the two leaders urged other Western leaders to emulate Uhuru and Raila by working together for the sake of development in the country.
Lusaka said the move by Uhuru and Raila to bury their hatchet has reduced political temperature in the Senate.
"Debates were being centered on parties and not on whether they will benefit Kenyans," he said.
"I am a leading example of a man who does not take revenge as per Psalms 35: 6. If we can't sit together and say our agenda we shall not get what we want. I will be rooting for meetings after every two months. We shall use the power of prayers to induce those who are opposed to our unity call," he said.
Omuse on his part said the unity between Uhuru and Raila has simplified his work.
"I am now appealing to President Uhuru through our able Senate Speaker to have him fast track the tarmacking of Busia-Malaba road which he launched in 2016. We also want the President to include sons and daughters from the county in his cabinet and to award Alupe University College a charter," he said.
