As the scramble for Luhya votes continues ahead of the 2017 poll, Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has told the Luhya community to join Jubilee and forget Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba's plans to form another party to rival Cord and Jubilee.

Since resigning from ODM Secretary General post, Namwamba has become a serious critic of the Cord coalition and has expressed his intention to form a 'third force'  to rival Cord and Jubilee through 'Mulembe Consciousness'.

Speaking at Sang'alo on Monday during the county's cultural festival, Mr Lusaka however said that the 2017 poll was a race between Cord and Jubilee and that Luhyas know which side to support.

He added that the community will only support an organised group that can easily win the poll.

"The way the political scene is unfolding right now shows we will have only two horses in next year's election. A point will reach when one will have to say they are either in Jubilee or Cord," Lusaka said.

"That is why as Luhyas we are planning early to be part of the winning team so that we have our rightful share in the next government," he added.

This comes barely 2 weeks after the dissolution of the New Ford Kenya party to merge with Jubilee.
