Lusaka said referendum will put the country in an election mood until 2022 thereby hindering effective service delivery to millions of Kenyans across the country.

"We just got from elections. If we accept the amendment of the constitution, by the time all this is over 2022 will be with us and we will have achieved nothing at all," Lusaka said.

He spoke during a church service in Machakos County on Sunday.

Lusaka said President Uhuru Kenyatta was right to rubbish the referendum calls by a section of political leaders.

He said the referendum will mess up the country for the remaining years stating that it will deter the president from accomplishing his 'Big four' agenda he has for the country.

Lusaka said it's time to work and develop the country in a bid to get it back on its feet.

"Referendum calls are good but it's not the right time. A referendum would derail us completely, first let's work on our country that has just woken from a strenuous election months ago," Lusaka said.
