According to Lusaka, the county bosses should maintain high levels of integrity and transparency when spending public funds.

“Governors with plans to steal public funds meant for development should know that the law will not spare them. Governors should ensure no money is wasted or used to initiate projects which don’t exist. What we need is accountability and transparency when spending public funds,” Lusaka said.

He said the Senate will not fail Kenyans in its oversight roles to all counties.

“The Senators will not sleep on their job. They will ensure funds sent to counties from the national government are used appropriately to initiate projects which will benefit the electorates,” he added.

Lusaka also urged MCAs not to spare county bosses who will embezzle funds.

“MCAs must do their work as well at the County Assembly level by ensuring Bills are debated in time and passed. MCAs who will collude with governors to steal public funds will be branded as enemies of development,” he added.

Lusaka was speaking on Friday at Mosocho area in Kitutu Chache South where he attended the burial of former University of Nairobi don, Professor Tumbo Oeri.
