Senate speaker Ken Lusaka has warned Opposition coalition NASA against forcefully ejecting a section of IEBC officials from office.
Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with Citizen Radio, Lusaka warned that the move could plunge the country into a crisis should NASA successfully remove the officials.
“The Supreme Court did not find any IEBC official culpable of bungling the August 8 poll. Therefore, if NASA’s bid to hound them out of office is successful, it means we are headed for turbulent times because it is against the law to accuse somebody without the requisite evidence,” he noted.
He further challenged NASA to soften its stance on the electoral process ahead of the October 26 repeat polls.
“IEBC’s meeting with the main stakeholders is very important but when you go the negotiating table you must be willing to give or take therefore NASA should not issue demands because the talks need to be open and conducted in a sober environment,” he said.
NASA has since started demonstrations aimed at pushing for the resignation of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba who they accuse of bungling the August 8 polls.
