The Kiambu County commissioner Esther Maina has assured Lusigetti, Kikuyu Sub County residents of their farms security following increased theft of farm produce.

Addressing the residents today at Lusigetti chief’s camp, Maina said that security will be beefed up in an effort to curb the menace in the area.

She mentioned that such theft was affecting farmers who were hardworking in their farming.

Maina added that whoever will be arrested should be handed over to the authorities.

“I send a warning to those who are behind this type of crime that their days are numbered. I want to assure farmers that security is going to be tightened to fight this criminals.”

Speaking to a farmer in the area, James Mugo, the area has had criminals who could steal produce in the farms. He said that the crime had affected most farmers making them not plant as they weren’t sure of a harvest.

He however hailed the security promise saying that they have hope of harvesting this coming season.
