Rivers and wetlands in Kericho, Kisumu and Nandi counties will be rehabilitated under the Lake Victoria Environmental Management Project 2 (LVEMP II).
The National Project Coordinator for Florence Owour says that LVEMP II plans to put soil and water conversation structures in the three counties to rehabilitate wet lands.
Speaking on Thursday during the launch of the LVEMP Laboratory in Kisumu, she also said that the organisation has done three sewage systems in Kisumu, Bomet and Homa Bay counties which deal with pollution control to reduce environment stress.
Owour said that the three sewage systems are almost complete with an expectation of Kisumu sewage system which is at 50 per cent done opening first. She said that water harvesting equipment has been procured and is expected soon.
She added that they have constructed 17 bio-toilets in schools, beaches and some market within Kisumu County.
"They are supposed to be used to provide biogas and help reduce environment stress," said Owour.
She added that the organisation has set up water monitoring of fish grounds to curb water pollution.
