A woman working at an M-Pesa shop in Nakuru has been arraigned in court and accused of stealing her employer's money.
Irene Njeri Kang'ethe appeared before Chief Magistrate Victor Wekumile and accused of stealing Sh118,000 belonging to her employer Anthony Njoroge on March 28.
According to prosecution the reason given by Njeri explaining how the money was lost is unsatisfactory.
Njeri told the court that she lost the money after she left the shop to visit the washrooms.
She said someone must have sneaked into the shop, broke the wooden box where the money was before vanishing.
On learning of the disappearance of the money called her boss notifying him of what had happened.
Njoroge who did not believe Njeri's explanation called police who arrested her.
Njoroge said he suspects his employee stole the cash.
"Justice has to prevail, she has to produce the money or go to jail," he said after the court session.
Chief Magistrate Wekumile freed the accused on a Sh30,000 bond and her case will be heard on April 23.
