Plans to relocate members of the Maasai community living in the geothermal-rich area of Olkaria in Naivasha has met opposition from the Maa community.
According to reports, the government plans to resettle families living in the area to create room for drilling of more power area.
Following these reports, the community is challenging the state to come clean and provide more information on the relocation plans, else they will block it.
Speaking during an initiation ceremony held in Olmayana village and attended by members of the community, area leader Jackson Tolinge said the government has kept them in the dark over the multi-billion-shilling project and called on it to engage the community for a mutual agreement.
