These animals which had nobody checking after them invaded the sukumawiki and other vegetables leaving the land completely bare.

These farmers held the cows bondage till the owners came for them on Wednesday evening.

The farmers have promised to sell those cows if they are found in the premises again. Talking to a few farmers, they expressed their agony and the loss the cows have brought to them.

“We will not condone this. We will use the law to defend our farms and our daily work. These Maasai communities are to much.

We just received enough rains but their cows have left a mess,”said Njoki Ndiritu a farmer.

“Setting them free was not the best option. They are supposed to compensate for every vegetable that was in this land. We are starting from zero again because of someones irresponsibility,”Njogu said.

“We were blessed with rain but hunger will strike us. I had so much hopes for these vegetables but these animals have invaded the land,”Ann Njeri said.

Other farmers claimed of how much they had spent to grow the vegetables only to encounter the loss.

“I asked for a loan to buy ‘Sukumawiki seedlings’ from my chama but I don’t think I will be able to pay the loan on time.

This is inhuman and being irresponsible, “said Magdalene Mueni.
