Farah Maalim, who is a Wajir County government employee has been told to tender in his resignation letter in preparation for his 2017 legislative bid for Garissa Township constituency.
In a memo dated November 1, the notice was sent out notice to aspiring politicians requiring them to submit their resignation documents before February next year. The notice was signed by Chief Officer at the Labour and Special Programmes department.
“The memo is to inform all our public officers who are intending to vie for various elective seats in the forthcoming general elections to give in their notice of resignation,” read the memo addressed to Abririzack Abdullahi, who is the county secretary and Ibrahim Dahiye who is the chair of the county Public Service Board.
However, there's no county employee who has since come out to notify the county administration of willingness to resign by the close of business on Wednesday evening.
Among the Wajir county workers that were expected to tender in their resignation letters before the end of February 2017 is the Garissa Township hopeful Farah Maalim who is employed as the advisor to the Wajir governor on Economics and Governance issues.
