Garissa parliamentary hopeful Farah Maalim has criticised the government for silencing and killing terror suspects without trial.
The former vocal National Assembly speaker stated that the security agents should instead arrest and immobilize the suspects in order to extract valuable information from them that could lead to further action.
"Why should the state security agents kill and silence suspected terrorists or their sympathizers when they can immobilize, arrest and get vital information from them? Something somewhere is not adding up. Who is who in Kenyans?" posed Maalim.
In another statement posted on his social media page, the Garissa politician further likened the country's security agents with thugs, who he said kill others without following due process.
"Extra judicial murders have no place in rule of law. Thugs kill without following any due processes. If our police officers do same and leaders sanction, then they too are thugs,” he added.
In August this year, Human rights watch report disclosed that the Kenyan government, especially security had been involved in enforced disappearances, where rights activists and suspected terrorist sympathizers are tortured and even murdered in cold blood.
