Speaking on Saturday in Garissa Town during Cord's rally in the area, Maalim argued that youths in the region were unable to access basic services and jobs due to the lack of ID cards.

"The government of the day has decided not to issue ID cards to our young boys and girls. We are giving the government an ultimatum of one month to kick off this process," he said.

The former deputy speaker further accused the government of deliberately neglecting the region in the issuance of identity cards and passports.

"The government of the day should stop this selective discrimination on the people of North Eastern. The Jubilee government has further marginalised the people of North eastern counties," he said.
