Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) deputy party leader Farah Maalim has been the latest leader to downplay the ongoing joint operations between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking on AM Live on Monday, the former Lagdera lawmaker poked holes into their joint national cohesion pursuit, terming it as a tribal plot aimed at satisfying two rival ethnic communities while excluding the rest of the nation.
The former National Assembly Deputy Speaker further took issue with the duo's 14-member national dialogue team unveiled on Sunday to spearhead their unity mission, terming it as partisan and questioning the absence of representatives from smaller communities in the list.
''There is nothing national about both the truce and its aftermath and it is unlikely to achieve its supposed national cohesion mission. The leaders' operations seem to be revolving around two communities and this does not bring on board the entire nation,'' said the former Garissa Township, parliamentary candidate.
''The committee is further tribal and cannot be of any notable help to Kenyans. We need a group in which all Kenyans' interests are represented,'' he added.
Both Kenyatta and Odinga have since stressed on the need for all Kenyans to rally behind them, discouraging any form of opposition.
