In a tweet on his handle, hours after the meeting, the former Lagdera lawmaker took issue with Odinga's decision to keep his National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals in the dark to appear alone for the meeting.

With a section of leaders from across the country branding Odinga and Kenyatta ''statesmen'', following the surprise meeting that came amid a national political division and hostility between the two, Maalim is of the opposite opinion, observing that the case would be different should it have involved any of the remaining co-principals.

''What if Kalonzo, Mudavadi or Wetangula had met Uhuru in the interest of national cohesion/unity? Would they be branded statesmen or traitors? and Why? Keen to hear what the keyboard warriors have to say now,'' the former National Assembly Deputy Speaker said.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula and Amani National Congress party boss Musalia Mudavadi were recently tagged traitors and cowards following their collective absence during Odinga's January 30 mock presidential inauguration.

The three have since expressed shock, maintaining that they were never consulted before the meeting, with Wetangula maintaining that it caught them unawares.

''I as Moses Wetangula, Ford Kenya party leader, Senate Minority leader and a NASA insider was not notified of the meeting,'' he told the press from Bungoma later in the day.

The meeting was held at Uhuru Kenyatta's Harambee House offices in Nairobi, with the leaders pledging to collaborate in uniting the nation.
