Maalim who was speaking during an interview with NTV on Monday insisted that involvement of IEBC in political parties nomination would lead to petitions that will leave the commissioners battling with court cases instead of concentrating on delivering a free and fair elections.

"You cant have a state agency which is a national body involved in political parties affairs," he said.

"In case there is a petition the IEBC becomes the first respondents," he added.

The Garissa Township MP hopeful also noted that carrying nominations for one party may lead to many parties demanding the same favor and there is no time to do that according to Maalim.

"Conducting nomination for one political party means they may also be called upon to conduct nominations for the other 46 parties," he said.
