National Intelligence Service (NIS) officers are being used to interfere with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) data in favor of National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, Former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim has said.
Speaking on Thursday, the politician said that his side has ready mischief ahead of the August polls, adding that he is not ready to allow his victory stolen.
He claimed that the officers have been transferring voters from Balambala, Fafi and Ijara, which are his strongholds.
He noted that there are cases of voters who have been transferred yet they have never applied for the same, which is likely to influence the outcome of the August polls as he seeks to dethrone Duale.
“These people have started executing some of their schemes. Some folks from the security machinery are busy trying to interfere with IEBC data,” he said, as quoted by Star.
The aspirant, added:“We are seeing quite a number of cases of people, who have never applied for transfers, being transferred to other constituencies.’”
Maalim, who is Duale’s arch rival, said that the IEBC has to move fast to correct the anomalies in the data for the sake of Garissa town residents.
County IEBC coordinator Anthony Njoroge has, however, rubbished the claims terming the mere propaganda.
