Garissa politician Farah Maalim on Saturday took to his social media platform to educate Kenyans on what it takes for practicing lawyers to be addressed as Learned friends.
Maalim said that Law is not a professional field that anyone would just practice merely because one qualifies as such.
"Being a lawyer is a noble calling where one is addressed as a learned friend solely because of the decorum, the professional etiquette and the dignity one carries oneself. Most importantly, one must respect judicial officers, rule of law and due processes," posed Maalim.
He further cautioned those unhappy with lower court resolutions to seek redress in the higher courts instead of condemning the judges who presided over their cases at the lower levels.
"When you are not happy with the rulings of a court then you should proceed with an appeal to the next court. Condemning presiding Judges and the judiciary is very primitive and erodes the dignity of the only optimally functioning arm of the Government. If you cannot stand the heat in law courts then join politics," added Maalim.
