Wiper Deputy Party leader Farah Maalim has said Edith Vethi Mwanzia Nyenze, widow of the late Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze, landslide win in the Monday’s by-election is a clear indicator that Wiper is a force to reckon with.
Speaking during an interview on Radio Maisha Tuesday, Maalim said that the alleged wrangles in the National Super Alliance (NASA) did not affect the outcome of the exercise.
Maalim, the former Lagdera lawmaker, also said that the party still has a bright future without or with the existence of NASA.
''We are strong and committed to our course and our victory in the Kitui West parliamentary contest can prove that we are unshaken by the current wrangles in our alliance,'' he said.
Ms. Nyenze garnered 72.67 percent of the votes cast to beat the five competitors.
She garnered 14,372 votes whitewashing her closest rival by 12,326 votes The election, however, witnessed a low turned out after only 38 percent of voters turning up.
Mr. Dennis Muli Mulwa, as an independent garnered 2, 046 votes to take the second position while Nairobi businessman Robert Mutiso Lelli of Narc-Kenya, who got 1784 votes was third.
The by-election was held after the demise of the area MP and husband of the MP elected passed on.
