With the NASA talks well on course as hinted by a section of opposition politicians, Farah Maalim is headed for one of the biggest hurdles in his 2017 Garissa Township race.
With the deal inching closer to reality each day, Maalim might face off with Abdi Yare in the party primaries set for early next year.
If the Nasa talks go well and the co-principals agree to dismantle their affiliate parties in Jubilee style, it will mean that Farah Maalim of the Orange Democratic Movement and Abdi Yarre of Musalia's African National Congress (ANC) party will have to battle for a nomination ticket.
With this, Maalim will have to contend a tough battle that will either make or break his political career in the Township constituency.
Given the fact that Township race has been predicted as one of the fiercest battles in the county, the opposition principals might sacrifice the flagship of 'unpopular' aspirants so as to clinch the seat.
So far, the contest has been predicted to be a two-horse race between Jubilee's Aden Duale and Raila's man, Farah Maalim.
