The Chairperson of the Deputy Governors' Forum, Dr Joash Maangi has commended the Kisii and Kipsigis elders for their role in championing peace and good inter-ethnic relations along the Borabu-Sotik border.
He said the elders deserve commendation for the role they played in bringing peace along the border during the POst Election Violence in 2007/ 08.
Mr Maangi who is also the Kisii Deputy Governor thanked the elders from the Kisii and Kalenjin communities for their efforts in ensuring communities along the Borabu-Sotik border live in harmony.
He said such initiatives were worth emulating by elders from other communities across the country adding that communities should cultivate a culture of togetherness.
Speaking on Thursday at the Kisii University during the National Elders Conference hosted by the Abagusii elders, Maangi said the mediation role elders play in the country cannot be ignored.
"I am not ashamed to say that where there are elders, naturally, nothing goes wrong and if it goes wrong, a solution will finally be found through their wise counsel,"said Maangi.
