Mr Maangi has been among the leaders from Gusii region championing for Jubilee government which performed dismally from the region in 2013 polls.

Trouble started when he took to the stage to respond to development queries but the pressure persisted which resulted in verbal exchanges with electorates.

In his statement, Maangi called for a memorandum with locals to highlight areas that he needed to work on before his tenure ends.

“Let us come together and sit down, write a memorandum and see the way forward on how I can help. We have to tolerate each other all the times,” he said amidst jeers.

“This is my home and those who are of the opinion that I leave should come forth. It’s not good to push leaders to the corner without listening to their side,” he added.

The irritate crowd started yelling and throwing unkind words to the pioneer Deputy Governor before he took off from the stage with aid from his bodyguards and flee the scene fearing attacks from the crowd.

According to one of the locals Evans Nyasato, the DG is accused of being absent from the region despite his superior position in Kisii County government.

“We are asking him why he is disinterested with development in our constituency yet he comes from here. That is the point of contention,” he said.
